Our Work

The Community Libraries Association of Uganda (COLAU) is a networking organization for community libraries in Uganda that started work as Uganda Community Libraries Association (UgCLA).

It changed name to the former and was registered as a national NGO in 2007 and has since then been joined by over 100 member libraries. The organization is overseen by a Board of Directors and operates a Secretariat managed by a National Coordinator.

Our mission is to promote literacy, lifelong learning, and community development through accessible library services. We believe that every Ugandan, regardless of age, location, or socio-economic status, should have access to books, information, and learning resources.

A Uganda where every community has access to quality library services that empower individuals and transform communities.

Results Oriented Approach

We work with community libraries to develop meaningful services for their communities.

Collaboration

We work hand-in-hand with our member libraries, fostering transparent communication and meaningful partnerships.

Data-Driven Creativity

We support community libraries to develop initiatives that are both innovative and effective.
